Alegre won the 30th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Races
After 607 nautical miles in 3 days 19 hours 20 minutes and 16 seconds, Andres Soriano son the Rolex Middle Sea Race with his 68 Mills 'Alegre' . By tactical thinking in light wind conditions, Soriano opted for a route near the coast. Despite the heavy competition they have sailed a great race.
Rolex Middle Sea Races
The Rolex Middle Sea Races is a highly respected among the classic offshore sailing races. The race started In the Grand Harbor where they sailed around Sicily to finish in a few days in Valletta. This year approximately 75 boats joined the race, 3 of them were Dutch.
Alegre
Alegre is a Mills design of 21 meter. This mini-maxi race-yacht is 1.5 years old and built in Newport, USA. Andy Soriano is the owner and helmsman of the Alegre from Philippines, the rest of the crew comes from the South of England.
In 2008 the Alegre took part in the ACC Bank Cork Week, Cowes Week (winner the Britannia Cup), Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and the Rolex Middle Sea Race (winner of her class).
In 2009 the Alegre competed at the Palma Vela, Pirelli Regatta, Giraglia Rolex Cup (winner), Copa Del Rey, Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and Rolex Middle Sea Races (winner). Gaastra is the proud sponsor of the Alegre.
