Les Voiles de St. Tropez starts 25th of September
Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez is an internationally famous sailing event that takes place in Saint-Tropez from 25 September through 3 October. Once again, thousands of visitors will be thronging to this event to admire the many yachts ranging from traditional to ultramodern. No other sailing event is as drenched with pure nautical excitement as Les Voiles de St. Tropez – even non-sailors love it. As in former years, Gaastra is again paying tribute to this unique race with a dazzling special, limited-edition collection.
Tradition
The history of this event began more than 25 years ago with a wager. Two sailors wanted to know which of them had the faster yacht. They decided to race each other from the Port of Saint Tropez to a point out at sea known as ‘La Niouo Largue’ and finish at ‘Club 55’ on the beach of this French seaside resort. The loser would have to buy the winner lunch that day. These origins of the race can still be seen in the character of the event: it is all about the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Dress code
Once again, Gaastra has designed an exclusive collection for Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez: a complete series of jackets, polo shirts and accessories. Every year, the entire organising team for this event and many participants and visitors wear the now familiar Gaastra shirts and jackets, this year recognisable with the ‘10’ on the back. For this event, Gaastra has surfaced as the creator of the dress code for Saint Tropez.
