Sail Amsterdam 2010

From August 19th till August 23rd 2010 the 8th edition of SAIL Amsterdam will take place. In 1975 the first edition of SAIL was held to celebrate Amsterdam was existing 700 years. The event was a great success, resulting in the second SAIL event in 1980. Over the years SAIL Amsterdam has become the largest, freely accessible public event in the Netherlands. During the SAIL event impressive fleets will be present in the IJ (the river which runs through Amsterdam), such as Tall ships, maritime heritage, modern ships, naval ships and replicas. During these five days there is plenty to do with a changing program of culture and sporting activities. The theme of SAIL 2010 will be: a nautical encounter between past, present and future.
